ABOUT THIS SWITCH

The switch is mounted above the brake pedal and closes the brake light circuit as the pedal moves. On automatic i20s the same signal releases the shift lock.

A common i20 problem is the switch plunger sitting out of adjustment after the pedal stopper pad wears, which leaves the brake lights on. Replacing the switch and checking the pad fixes both issues.
