FITMENT CHECK

This is the 2-pin switch for Ceratos without cruise control. If your Cerato has cruise control, or the old switch has 4 pins, you need 93810-3K000 instead. On automatic Ceratos also check the rubber stopper pad on the pedal arm, as a worn pad keeps the brake lights on even with a good switch.

ABOUT THIS SWITCH

The switch is mounted on the brake pedal bracket under the dash. Pressing the pedal closes the contacts and switches on the brake lights, and on automatic Ceratos the same signal releases the shift lock so you can select a gear.

Once the contacts wear the Cerato can lose its brake lights completely or leave them glowing after you park - a common cause of a flat battery on LD and TD models.

Why are my Cerato brake lights still on after fitting a new switch?

On the Kia Cerato LD and TD a crumbled rubber stopper pad on the pedal arm keeps the lights on even with a good switch. Replace the pad when you fit this switch.
