ABOUT THIS OIL SEAL

On the i30, this seal sits where the front driveshaft enters the transmission or transaxle housing, keeping fluid inside while the shaft rotates freely - the same design across FD, GD, PD and CN7 generations.

Once the sealing lip hardens or wears, fluid escapes past the shaft and the transmission fluid level drops, risking gear wear and eventual transmission failure if the leak goes unnoticed, particularly on higher-km GD and PD diesel wagons.
