ABOUT THIS SWITCH

The switch screws into the pedal bracket above the brake pedal. It closes when you press the pedal to switch on the brake lights, and on automatic Rio, Soul and Optima models it also releases the gear selector shift lock.

On the K2700 light truck the switch takes a hammering from constant start-stop work, while on the Rio and Soul the most common complaint is brake lights left on after parking, draining the battery.
