ABOUT THIS SENSOR

The MAF sensor across this Mazda petrol and diesel range measures intake air volume so the ECU can calculate correct fuel injection quantity for each operating condition. It is a bolted 12V insert type with an integrated air temperature element.

When this sensor drifts or fails the ECU falls back to default fuelling tables, causing rough idle, hesitation on acceleration and increased fuel consumption (or heavy black smoke on turbo-diesel variants).
