ABOUT THIS SENSOR

The MAF sensor on the B6/ZM petrol engine measures intake air volume so the ECU can calculate the correct fuel injection quantity for each operating condition. It is a bolted 12V insert type with an integrated air temperature element.

When this sensor drifts or fails the ECU switches to open-loop fuelling, causing rough idle, hesitation on acceleration and increased fuel consumption.
