This throttle position sensor replaces Holden OEM part numbers 17123852 and 817206, covering the entire Gen3 LS1 5.7L V8 engine family used in the Commodore, Statesman, Caprice, Monaro, Adventra, Crewman, and all HSV performance variants from VT Series 2 through VZ. The LS1 uses a 3-pin round connector with anticlockwise rotation — this sensor matches that specification exactly and replaces the original without modification or recalibration.

The Gen3 LS1 relies on the TPS as the primary throttle-demand signal to the ECU — there is no mechanical fallback. A degraded sensor sends a corrupted voltage sweep, and the ECU cannot distinguish between a closed throttle and a partial-open position. On a Commodore SS or HSV performance model, this shows immediately: flat spots under hard acceleration, surge at highway cruise, erratic part-throttle response, and automatic transmission shift points that no longer match actual throttle demand.

3-pin round connector. Anticlockwise rotation. Supplied without cable. 2 mounting bores. Calibrated to the OEM resistance specification for Holden 17123852 across the full throttle sweep of the Gen3 LS1 throttle body. The voltage output at closed throttle, part-throttle, and wide-open throttle matches the original — the ECU reads no difference on first start.

What fault codes does a faulty TPS trigger?

A faulty throttle position sensor typically triggers codes P0120 to P0124. P0120 and P0121 indicate the TPS signal is out of range, P0122 and P0123 indicate the signal is too low or too high, and P0124 indicates an intermittent signal. On drive-by-wire vehicles additional codes related to the electronic throttle control system may also be present.
