ABOUT THIS SEAL

The rear main seal sits on the crankshaft flange at the transmission end of the Cordia engine, keeping oil inside the crankcase while the crankshaft spins freely.

On Cordia models this seal hardens with age and mileage, and once it fails oil weeps onto the clutch or torque converter, gradually dropping oil level and risking clutch slip on manual variants.
