ABOUT THIS SEAL

Fitted to the crankshaft flange at the transmission end of the block, this seal keeps engine oil inside the crankcase while the crankshaft spins freely.

Once it fails, oil weeps onto the clutch or torque converter, gradually lowering oil level and risking clutch slip on manual Elantra, Cerato Koup and Sportage models.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF FAILURE

Oil spots under the vehicle near the bell housing
Slowly dropping oil level with no other visible leak
Clutch slipping or a burning clutch smell in manual vehicles
Burning oil smell from the transmission area
