ABOUT THIS SENSOR
This is a broadband wideband lambda sensor (LSU 4.2 type) - not a standard narrowband O2 sensor. The wideband sensor measures a much wider range of air-fuel ratios, providing the ECU with precise fuel mixture feedback across the full operating range rather than just a rich/lean signal.
On the 3.6L Alloytec V6 engine, the wideband lambda sensor is mounted upstream before the catalytic converter. A failing sensor causes the ECU to run on open-loop fuel control, leading to rich running, increased fuel consumption, and loss of power. This same sensor part number covers the full Alloytec V6 family from VZ through to the Colorado RC and Rodeo RA applications.

How do I replace an oxygen sensor?
Most O2 sensors thread directly into the exhaust pipe or manifold. You will need an O2 sensor socket (22mm with a slot for the wire) and penetrating oil if the sensor is seized. Allow the exhaust to cool completely before starting. Some sensors also require a wiring harness connector to be unplugged. Always clear fault codes with an OBD2 scanner after replacement.
